Sources and verification

Where every number on this site comes from, which sources are confirmed and which are not, and a live check that each one is answering right now. Not every race comes from the same place, so each has a main source and a second way to check it.

Rules we follow

Two independent sources where they exist. Toronto's mayoral race is read from the City's own results file and compared with the totals municipal clerks enter on AMO's province-wide site. If they agree, the Toronto page says so. If they differ, it says that too.
No projection while sources disagree. A projection needs the strict probability rule, enough polls counted, and no unresolved disagreement between sources.
Unverified means unverified. A source is marked confirmed only after we opened it and read it. Anything else is labelled as not yet confirmed, even if it is very likely to work.
Official results are the only official results. Everything on election night is unofficial until the clerk or Élections Québec declares it. We do not scrape news sites; TV and newspaper pages are only used by people to sanity-check us.
